WPS Partners With Norman Regional Health System to Provide On-Campus Registered Nurse Through Grant

Washington Public Schools has partnered with Norman Regional Health System to
provide a Registered Nurse through the Oklahoma Schools COVID-19 Prevention
Program grant. The purpose of this grant is to help provide needed support for our
students, staff, and community that includes efficient COVID 19 testing and contact
tracing. The grant requires that WPS set a monthly goal of testing 10% of its student
population. Written parent permission is required before any student testing. To
request testing, please call 405-288-2353.
A resident and parent in the Washington community, Kimber Andrews, has been hired
to fulfill the duties of the nurse position for the Oklahoma Schools COVID 19 Prevention
Program. Mrs. Andrews will office in the elementary building at Washington Schools;
however, she will assist students in all grade levels and faculty. In the coming weeks,
Norman Regional Health System will add mobile technology to provide Telehealth visits
for students or staff who present symptoms of acute illness and need or can benefit
from a visit with a health care professional.
The collaborative partnership between Washington Schools and Norman Regional
Health System aims to enhance students' educational experience and protect the health
and wellness of our students, faculty, parents, and community of Washington.
