High School Principal
On behalf of the entire Washington High School staff, we would like to extend a big welcome to all of our continuing and new families. We are excited to start a new year and look forward to working with you.
Hello, I am John Hancock, and I am entering my second year as principal at WHS. As previously stated, I have enjoyed meeting and working with so many wonderful students, parents, and staff members.
I have a wonderful wife, Sara, who I have been married to since 1995. Together, we have two awesome children, Jacob and Summer. My hobbies include: spending time with my family, playing golf, hunting, and jeeping.
I graduated from Midwest City High School in 1992, and shortly after, joined the Army. After serving in the Army, I continued my educational path while wrestling in college. In 2000, I graduated from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies, then started my teaching and coaching career. I have taught all secondary levels except sixth grade. I have experiences teaching History, Math, and Humanities classes; reaching students not only in the classroom but also by building lasting relationships through coaching. I was the head wrestling coach of many different teams. In addition, I have served as an assistant football coach, a middle school baseball coach, and a tennis coach. In 2010, I graduated from Emporia State University with a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. Upon completing my masters, I became an assistant principal of Mid-Del School District at both the middle school and high school buildings. I am so excited to be working with young scholars on a daily basis, and I look forward to engaging with families and staff to build a positive, learning community that facilitates the growth of all Washington students.
